Samuel replied, “what is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your disobedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshipping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the Lord, He has rejected you as king.” 1Samuel 15:22-23.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: “Every action carries a message that can make or mar the doer.”
Throughout Scripture, one thing that is most noticeable is that God doesn’t joke with His word and the actions of men. He picked and unpicked men because of their action. He dislikes it, when man disobeys Him. Man is in this present state today because Adam and Eve disobeyed and many have still not understood that actions are messages that convey our intents to God. Saul was a practical example of a man who disobeyed God and lost everything because of his actions to go against God’s word.
Saul was a man that went up because he obeyed his biological father. In 1Samuel 9:3, his father sent him out to go in search of their lost donkey that strayed away; he obeyed his father and went. It was while he was in this quest that the anointing located him and made Samuel to anoint him king. Anything that takes a man up is the same thing that will establish and sustain him there. Obedience took him up and when he failed to obey he came down flat and crashed. Beloved! Always practice whatsoever it is that initiated your growth, never abandon it for anything. That is why you see people rise today and tomorrow they are down, it is because they either lack the knowledge of what caused the change or got carried away with the opening and forget to continue their practice. Rebellion and stubbornness to God’s word and principle should be avoided at all times.
Obedience to God’s word is the key to continuation in the blessing and practice of godly principles is what makes the journey smooth.
Think before you act. Follow God’s word, do what God wants not what you or others want. Identify what caused or will cause your change and stick by it.
Father may I never forget the grace that brought me where I am today in Jesus name. And if I have forgotten what You did and how You did it for me to be where I am today, help me please to remember so that my obedience will be complete to You. I shall never rise and fall. Greater heights shall be my portion in Jesus Mighty Name.
