One day the Angel of the Lord arrived at Bochim, coming from Gilgal, and announced to the people of Israel, “I brought you out of Egypt into this land that I promised to your ancestors, and I said that I would never break my covenant with you, if you, on your part, would make no peace treaties with the people living in this land; I told you to destroy their heathen altars. Why have you not obeyed?  And now since you have broken the contract, it is no longer in effect, and I no longer promise to destroy the nations living in your land; rather, they shall be thorns in your sides, and their gods will be a constant temptation to you.” Judges 2:1-3 TLB

We are alive because of God and as such must cling to His word to survive the world. Words of God are preservations of life, and His commands happen to be His counsel for guidance on how to conduct ourselves. The counsel of God always prevents us from present and future troubles. In Deuteronomy 20:17 God commanded the Israelites to utterly destroy their enemies but as our scriptural verse of today rightly points out they failed in implementing the advice of God. The reckless abandon of God’s word and outright disobedience to His counsel introduced an avoidable land ownership problem for the Israelites. Who you decide to associate with has the capacity to contaminate your future blessings. You must be careful in your dealings with people and who you give access to.

What direction has God commanded you to follow? Are you observing it or not? The counsel of God is to be strictly adhered to by man to avoid uncontrollable consequences. The command of God keeps you in charge and in check. To ignore His counsel because of feelings of inappropriateness is to cut short His provisions for your life. Something carries people in this world, and His counsel is what you need to carry you to your destination and establish your stay without harassment from the enemy. Obedience is what will make you eat the good of the land.

Today’s thought: “The word of God travels to the future, to ignore His word is to be choked in the future.”

Keynote: Dishonor to God’s counsel closes the door and brings contention to your promise.

Counsel: Study God’s word to obey it and apply what you’ve received rightly and accordingly. Choose your associations carefully and know who to give access to your life.

Prayer: May your life become yielding to the command of God in Jesus name. The ability to acknowledge Godly counsel and apply them appropriately is released upon you in Jesus name.

May the hand of Jehovah advance you further and higher in Jesus’ mighty name.
